A while ago, when I was young, I read Odyssey. It was, to me, a journey not in place but in depth; depth of the human soul. Days and days of exploring the mazes, turns and hides of the essence of a human .. what is to be loved, what is to be feared of and what is to be longed for.
The story of Homer, the great Greek writer, is narrated about the go-home journey of Odysseus after the Troy war is over. He didn’t give due respects and thanks to the gods, he related all his achievements to himself and his powers. Thus, he was punished and banished away.
It summed fears .. all kinds of fears, resembled the agonies a man faces in front of nature, loneliness and being skeptic of his soul and faith. A man who tries to surpass the limits and runs around the assumed path of his journey of his life.
Then, what if we come to witness the exchanging of places?! An angel is falling down, carrying her own world in her heart and upon her shoulders trying to alter its roots in a new environment, in a man’s world. She sees virtues, she sees pureness; she also sees lies and tries to make them true and she tries to arise bodies from the death.
Who is to blame .. who is to be judged guilty, the angel or the human?
The fact shows an angel would be nothing but an angel and a man, even trying so hard and so faithfully, forgets that the soul, while good and pure, is imprisoned within the bars of body, of flesh and of desires.
Then again, who is wrong dealing with the other .. an angel or a human?
We would never know .. it’s the classical dilemma between the main four parts resemble the building of a human’s life, i.e, soul – heart – mind – body
This issue is stirring up questions in our minds and giving also solutions for long kept-hidden secret in the following verse of Holy Quran:
